Posted on June 29, 2011 at 12:01 pm in

Botox – it sure sounds like a miracle cure, doesn’t it? Our friends at Botox Houston sure do some amazing work with simple and virtually pain-free Botox treatments. Did you know that Botox has also added the claim that it can help with migraines, too?

Keep reading and see why many Houston Botox. patients are looking into this other benefit of Botox.

Botox For Migraines: How Does It Work

Botox is a relatively new cosmetic procedure to getting a wrinkle free face and to take away the appearance of aging. However, the more recent buzz is using botox for migraine treatments. It has been found that those that took botox injections reported a drop in the severity of their migraines. So is it really true that botox can really treat migraines?

Botox (botulinum toxin) is a neurotoxin injection. Neurotoxins are toxins that attack the nerve cells. Botox is the sterile and vacuum-dried form of the botulinum toxin type A. It is usually produced from the Hall strain of Clostridium botulinum. Botox can be used in conditions where the hyperactivity of muscles causes the health and medical related problems.

Botox for migraines helps to weaken or paralyze the hyper activated muscles by suppressing the release of acetylcholine, which mainly causes the transmission of nerve impulses at synapses and myoneural. This treatment can also be used for reducing the pain associated with the cervical dystonia, achalasia and rectal fissures. Botox is usually injected directly into the affected muscles.

There are different theories to explain the working of the Botox for the elimination of migraine headaches. According to one theory, as tension and spasms are the main causes of migraines, Botox eliminate the headaches by eliminating the muscle tension. It is also believed that Botox reduces the headaches by inhibiting the transmission of nerve cells. According to this theory headache is caused due to the increased amount of signals send by the nerves.

Since Botox for migraines take several weeks to take effect after the injection, it is better to not inject more than once every three months. The pain in the injected area remains for a couple of days after injecting the Botox. This can be pointed out as the main disadvantage to the use of this neurotoxin.

You will need to consult your doctor before taking the botulinum toxin type. Botulinum toxin type A for migraines should never be used with any other botulinum toxin or any other medication that affect the nerves or muscles.

One of the biggest drawbacks for the use of botox for migraines is the cost of treatment. The Botox injections are usually not covered by any insurance and the cost of Botox treatment can be around $350 for each targeted area. Hence this treatment is more costly compared to the other migraines treatments such as the prescription drug lmitrex and nasal sprays. But the drugs like lmitrex and nasal sprays are only used as a preventative drug and are not designed to prevent all the migraine attack for up to four or more months like Botox.

Due to market interest, more research is currently underway. Using botox for migraines should be considered very carefully. It is still early days yet before you can truly know what all the side effects can be.

You will need to discuss the risks over with your doctor. If you decide to go for it, be observant of any serious side effects that you may experience; such as an allergic reaction, difficulty in breathing, talking or swallowing, chest pain, irregular heartbeats or excessive muscle weakness. Seek medical attention if you experience any one of these symptoms.

Overconsumption of drugs for headache relief can result in rebound headaches and worsening migraines. Get more information on natural headache remedy or remedies [http://www.naturalheadacheremedies.com] here on this site at www.naturalheadacheremedies.com [http://www.naturalheadacheremedies.com]

Your Sports Car Needs Love – Protect Your Investment!

Posted on June 27, 2011 at 1:45 pm in

When you own a sports car, it’s really important to keep it in good shape to help maintain the performance of your sports car AND the value of your car. Our windshield repair cost friends have this advice that can help you keep your car in good repair.

Making sure that your sports car is in shape all of the time is not difficult. All it takes is preventive maintenance to avoid the hassle of taking it to a repair shop when the engine suddenly dies or the lights in the control panel light up.

One of the leading car manufacturers in the world is BMW. Not everyone can afford to buy a sports car from this company but here are some tips that will help you maintain your sports car…

Before going out for a drive, it is wise to check the brakes, the tires, the oil and the steering system to make sure that everything is normal. Also be mindful of your windshield – car windshield repair is an inexpensive way to fix your windshield and is much cheaper than replacement.

If while driving the car, you hear a sound or noise that was not there before, take it to your mechanic or local repair shop to have it checked.

Have the mechanic check all the parts or the of the ignition system, for example: check the spark plugs as their condition is a very good indicator of how the engine is performing. They should be changed every 100,000 miles but there is no harm in checking them every 30,000 miles just to be sure that everything is alright.

The rotor and distributor cap are made up of plastic which deteriorate over time due to wear and tear. To make sure that these are not causing any problems when starting the vehicle have them checked.

The filter acts as a deterrent against rust and other harmful objects that may disrupt the performance of your vehicle. There several filters such as those for oil or fuel. These filters should be checked frequently – about every 3,000 miles.

The car’s mileage can be checked by calculating the amount of fuel purchased and the miles driven as shown by the odometer before and after fueling. If there is a sudden change in the number of miles per gallon, be concerned and take the car to the repair shop for analysis.

In the event that the car’s sensor lights come on, pull the car over to the side of the road then call for help. There is a possibility that the problem can be remedied there or it may have to towed to a repair shop.

Even if sports cars come with better and smarter engines, the possibility of something going wrong is still there. By taking every precaution, the driver can get to the place where he wants to go safely.

Thank you to our neighborhood chipped windshield repair friends – we appreciate the advice!
