You can drive on your UK license in Canada.

Most likely his policy covers foreign guest drivers, but you should ask him and make sure. If he needs to pay anything to add you, offer to reimburse him.

Well, savings is not income. You stated above that you have heard it is based on 8 or9% of your income. IF you are not working, that would be zero. In any case, that health plan will be repealed and we won't have to worry about it.

Looks like a text book question for school. At any rate, I would pick Japan for the first country. Japan is full of a tech savvy demographic as well as a demographic that regularly accepts new concepts into their culture.

Hi
UK licence is fine for up to six months

But he needs to get you on his insurance

Make sure you always take your licence with you when driving , if you don’t have it they lock you up till some one brings it in !

Car insurance / driving licence abroad (UK resident in Canada for 2 weeks).?
I’m off to Toronto with my other half for two weeks to visit her Dad who lives there. I wont be hiring a car, as her Dad has kindly offered me the use of one of his cars.

I obviously want to be legal etc. Is my full UK drivers licence ok to drive on while i’m out there, and how do I get insurance for using his car? Not sure if he puts me on his policy over there, or whether my personal insurance has to be adjusted?

Under the new Obama Health Plan, in 2014 will there be a means test to get cheap insurance?
I understand that in 2014 health insurance can only cost up to about 8 or 9% of your income under the new Obama Health reform. What happens if you have saved up some money and/or own your own home, etc. Will the 8 or 9% rule still apply? or will the government force you to spend your savings?…. for instance, say by 2014 I have saved up $50,000 and I want to take a year off from working, hence my "income" is zero (although I would have $50,000 in the bank), can I still get free/cheap health insurance? What if I work part time and make say $10,000 a year, but saved up $100,000 and use that to live on too, would I still get the cheap insurance? You get the idea….basically will there be a "means test" in 2014?
