Social networking sites are absolutely gigantic. As of writing this article Squidoo currently has ,461,000 pages indexed in Google. Blogger has 889,000 pages indexed in the Google search results and Hubpages has 364,000. As you can see, these sites get pages indexed very well. They have a lot of authority to them because of their sheer size. In this article I’ll tell you how to take advantage of these large sites. I’ll even tell you how to increase search engine rankings by adding back links to your site.
The first thing you must know is that social networking sites are free and easy to use. As long as you do not spam them with links, you will be allowed to do some site promotion with key word anchor text. The only requirements for these sites are that you register. You’ll find however, that most of them will not let you make pages that involve questionable subjects such as pornography, gambling, guns, or illegal activities. If you have a site with any of these niches, you may have to find another avenue for creating back links to your web site.
In order to register, you will need to have an email address. You may want to register a new email address so that you do not get spammed by a multitude of social networking sites. It is best to use a free email address from Yahoo or Google.
It can be quite time consuming to register at these sites. It may be a good idea to sign up for one and put the answers to the questions in a text file. You can then copy and paste these answers when you register with the other social networking sites.
If you’ve already registered at the site, why not create some pages? However, if you are looking to get some additional traffic from these pages, you should not add these pages. If your not sure which route to go, consider how much each visitor is worth to you on your site versus how much you will make if they click on your advertisements.
